Yodlee, a US provider of personal finance management and payment technology, has opened up an online marketplace for independent developers.
The firm says its Yodlee FinApp Store is an ecosystem where certified developers can tap its software development kit (SDK) to create financial management applications.
FinApp Store developers can then distribute free and paid-for applications into the community of Yodlee-powered PFM users around the world. The firm claims over 24 million people use its technology through more than 100 financial institutions and portals around the world.
The store means bank customers can build a highly personalised service, enabling them to pick and choose what functionality they need, with whatever applications they choose integrated into a dashboard with real-time data through their favourite site.
The offering also benefits developers by offering them a vast market and financial institutions, which gain a new revenue stream, says Yodlee.
Several apps are already under development, including a Microsoft Money financial data converter, savings and goal planning apps and tax preparation and filing tools.
Peter Hazlehurst, SVP, products, Yodlee, says: "With the FinApp Store, Yodlee is opening up its proprietary platform capabilities to qualified developers, enabling the creation of the next generation of online finance applications for the benefit of the growing millions of Yodlee PFM users."
