The deal will see Optimum T4200 countertop terminals installed at merchants throughout Australia. Hypercom will also service Westpac's entire installed base of more than 80,000 terminals.

The roll-out will commence in 2010.

Jacques-Herve Maupin, MD, Asia Pacific, Hypercom, says the contract was won following a rigorous RFP.

He says Westpac's decision to switch to Hypercom "represents a huge market share gain for the company in Australia and New Zealand".
