The bank's payments and transaction platform, Cedicam, will initially use the framework for Sepa direct debit transfers.

A second phase will then see Sepa credit transfers, international, high value and domestic payments transferred to the same platform.

The vendor says Cedicam chose its technology for robust performance, reliability and scalability.

Jean-Claude Perchet, CEO, Cedicam, says: "In order to continue to play a role in the years to come among the European leaders in payments services, the Crédit Agricole group has adopted an ambitious strategy based on the one hand on a process of innovation and enrichment of the payment service offerings and secondly on the construction of a European platform for payments processing."

Interesting that the EBA has another competitor in "SEPA world" - and one that brings considerable utility and flexibility for the future. This does suggest that a more effective way to acquire the SEPA payments of a bank might to offer an enterprise solution rather than trying to compete against established local ACH providers.
