Under the deal, BMO will replace its existing Unisys servers with two of the vendor's ClearPath Libra Model 690 units.

Housed in BMO's two data centres, the ClearPath systems provide mirrored capabilities and employ an open systems architecture, with support for the Microsoft Windows operating environment.

Unisys says the new servers will provide for faster execution of key banking applications whilst total cost of ownership over the contract length will be 40% less than for the old systems.

In addition, the ClearPath systems will help contribute to the bank's environmental initiatives, slashing energy consumption by approximately 85% compared to the current servers.
