Sybase has launched a complex event processing (CEP) technology platform for performing analytics on high speed streaming data.
The CEP engine is being offered as an optional extension to the vendor's RAP anlytics platform.
Sybase says the combination will enable traders and risk managers to perform real-time analytics on high speed streaming trade and market data, capture risk and react to new opportunities with minimal latency. The technology also allows quantitative analysts to back test their algorithms using historical data stored in Sybase RAP.
The Sybase CEP engine has been developed from source code licensed from San Francisco-based Coral8.
Coral8 last week was taken over by rival Aleri, in a move that emphasises the growing significance of complex event processing for financial services firms operating in fast-moving, low latency trading environments.
