Discover Financial Services has launched a mobile version of its Web site, enabling cardholders to manage their accounts and make payments from their handsets' browser.
The mobile site is a streamlined version of the main Discover portal which works with any Internet-enabled handset.
Cardholders can make payments, view their recent transactions and pending payments, keep tabs on their rewards and enrol in the firm's cash back programme from their handsets.
Sarah Alter, VP, e-business and new markets, Discover Financial Services, says: "Discover.com Mobile provides a new service channel that allows cardmembers to have access to their account information right at their fingertips."
In 2007 Discover teamed with Motorola to trial a combined mobile account management and payment service. Around 1000 participants in the Chicago and Salt Lake City area were able to check their card account balances, review transaction history, and make contactless payments using Motorola M-Wallet software embedded in their handsets.
A study released by Juniper Research earlier this week predicts that over 150 million people in developed markets will be using their mobile phones as an additional banking channel by 2011.
