Sany, who is currently responsible for global IT at the German telecomms outfit, succeeds Scott Abbey as head of technology at UBS.

Abbey played a key role in the development of the Swiss bank's integrated IT infrastructure unit (ITI) in 2004, which relocated approximately 2350 tech staff from diverse business divisions to a central location in Zurich.

Sany is a tech industry veteran, with multi-industry experience. Prior to taking up the reins at Deutsche Telekom he spent 14 years at IBM, followed by a seven-year stint at pharmaceutical giant Novartis.
