Nasdaq OMX has appointed former Philadelphia Stock Exchange chief information officer William Morgan as senior vice president, global human resources.
Reporting to Nasdaq OMX CEO Bob Greifeld, from January, Morgan will be responsible for the operation of the company's global HR department, supporting employees worldwide.
He joins Nasdaq OMX as part of the acquisition of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) in July. Since then he has been working on the integration of the PHLX staff, technology systems and market operations group.
Morgan spent over 12 years as executive vice president and CIO at the Philadelphia bourse, managing the activities of its technology team and market operations group. He also oversaw the exchanges major technology initiatives, including the implementation of the PHLXXL electronic hybrid options trading system.
Says Greifeld: "Bill's demonstrated leadership of teams and successful career at the PHLX make him ideal for this position, a key strategic leadership role at Nasdaq OMX."
