UK credit card outfit Barclaycard is to hire 200 people over the next year to work at a new administrative office in New York.
The Barclays subsidiary says it plans to employ 200 credit risk, corporate finance and market analytics professionals to work at the new Long Island City office within the next 12 months.
They will support global operations in Europe, Africa and Asia as well as the US business headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware.
Antony Jenkins, CEO, Barclaycard, says: "The new New York office represents an important first step in advancing our strategy of creating a truly global Barclaycard business, with roles and functions located wherever we can recruit the best people."
Earlier this year Barclaycard revealed plans to axe almost 1000 UK jobs at its recently acquired credit card business Goldfish with the closure of a Scottish call centre and the unit's London headquarters.
