Tsys has been active in Japan since 2000, when it purchased a majority stake in GP Network Corporation (GP Net) and opened its first office.

The new data centre facility, located in Nago City, Okinawa will initially focus on serving the local market, says the vendor, but may eventually operate as an Asian hub, linking the existing data centres in North America and Europe.

Hitoshi Kondo, managing director of Tsys Japan, says: "The new clients and technologies that the data center brings to Tsys will contribute to our established presence in the Japanese market."
