Technology consultancy Lab49 has launched a real-time portfolio management application designed specifically for the Apple iPhone.
The vendor says it has seen a growing demand for financial applications for the new iPhone platform, particularly among hedge funds.
Users are looking for tools to manage trading applications and high-performance infrastructures, says Lab49, as well as for real-time information, data visualisation and mobile workflow management and monitoring.
The Lab49 Capital application enables buy-side portfolio managers to track the performance of their assets in real time. Users can also "slice and dice" positions, profit and loss and changes in the portfolio across multiple dimensions such as strategy, industry, country and manager.
"The new iPhone platform presents significant opportunities to buy-side and sell-side firms," says Marc Jacobs, director, Lab49.
