Stewart MacKinnon has resigned as secretary general of the European Payments Council (EPC), citing differences of opinion about the role and direction of the EPC.
In February last year, MacKinnon was named as the new secretary general to succeed Charles Bryant, who stepped down in June 2007 following completion of his term of office and now heads the e-invoicing working group at the Euro Banking Association.
Prior to joining the EPC, MacKinnon had been chief executive of the Irish Payments Services Organisation (IPSO), the representative and decision-making body of the Irish payments industry, since 2001.
The EPC told Finextra:"For the principal reason that the job was not living up to his expectations he wishes to pursue other interests and is setting up his own strategic consulting company in the UK.The recruitment process to find a successor as EPC secretary general is underway."
