Electronic dealing platform Tora Trading has hired Citi auto-trading veteran Peter Lewis as managing director of its New York office.
Lewis joins Tora after a 22-year career at Citi Global Markets where he founded and then managed the New York desk for international equity program trading. He also co-managed the US alternative execution group, and served as a managing director of Electronic Execution Sales.
While managing the Alternative Execution Group, Lewis co-managed Citi's acquisitions of the Lava Trading Platform and Best Execution Consulting Services (BECS), as well as hiring and managing Citi's algorithmic trading engineering team.
In his new role, Lewis will look to spearhead Tora's push for penetration among the US buy-side community. The ASP-based multi-broker Tora Trading Platform provides DMA access and liquidity in 24 markets through 75 brokers, and over 150 algorithmic trading strategies.
Says Lewis: "The major Asian markets are now collectively larger than Nasdaq in trading volume, and the Tora Trading Platform is the clear leader for trading Asia. I look forward to working with the US buy-side community to gain access to the same edge that over 45 Asia based buy-side firms currently enjoy by using the Tora Trading Platform for their trading operations."
