Admiral says it will move into the 30,000 square foot building this autumn. The site will primarily house a claims department with an initial intake of 90 new staff.

Ceri Assiratti, head of people services, Admiral, says: "We will be looking to recruit for a range of jobs in claims at all levels from call handlers to experienced bodily injury case handlers as well as management positions."

Admiral - which owns several insurance brands including Elephant and price comparison Web site Confused.com - already employs 1500 people in Cardiff and 1100 in Swansea.

The firm says it is also taking additional space in buildings at these locations and has recruited over 400 people already this year for its claims, customer services, sales and renewals departments.

Earlier this month UK banking group HSBC revealed plans to create 250 call centre jobs over the next two years at its operations in Newport as part of a £14 million investment in the centre.
