IBM inks NAB outsourcing deal

National Australia Bank (NAB) has signed a three year outsourcing agreement with IBM for the management of its desktop and service desk IT infrastructure. The deal includes the provision of desktop support services for 28,000 bank employees.

IBM says the contract includes support for NAB's new desktop architecture, known as the 'Australian Regional Desktop Technology Platform'.

The vendor says it service model "provides significant gains to NAB in terms of cost efficiency".

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

In addition to the NAB contract IBM says it has been selected to join Commonwealth Bank of Australia's multi-vendor application services panel for the delivery of application and management services.

Glen Boreham, MD, IBM Australia and New Zealand, says the new deals "reflect both the strength of the local economy, and the need for Australian organisations to find creative ways to address skills shortages".

IBM says its Australia operations recorded double-digit revenue growth in 2007.
