Retuers says the tie-up is in line with its strategy to deliver premier content and financial information to financial institutions, businesses and individuals over a variety of Web-enabled devices.

With Reuters Online Reports, AvantGo's two million customers will gain access to multimedia information and news, including colour pictures, graphics and text via their handheld devices. Available in French and English, users can choose which news categories they would like to receive and read the full-length stories, as they break, with accompanying pictures and graphics. News can be accessed in real time with a wireless connection or offline via synchronisation.

David Owen, marketing director, Reuters Media Europe, says the agreement positions Reuters firmly within the consumer space. "It represents a major step forward in our aim to provide premier content anytime, anywhere via a multitude of Internet platforms."
