Allied Irish Banks, Barclays Bank, ING Groep, National Australia Bank and Rabobank Group are among the council's charter members.

Oracle says the council, which will meet twice a year, will build and strengthen executive-level customer relationships, validate its product direction, identify areas of concern and enable clients to directly influence its strategy for the banking industry.

"As the banking industry continues to evolve, it is essential that financial institutions have the tools to capitalise on new opportunities rapidly, while also continuing to enhance services and streamline operations," says Rajesh Hukku, SVP and General Manager, Oracle financial services global business unit. "The Oracle Banking Industry Strategy Council provides an important opportunity for senior banking executives to share their visions for the future, and technology's role in supporting growth goals."
