Nordic and Baltic market operator OMX has confirmed that it is outsourcing its external network operations and management of its data centres to US telecomms firm Verizon. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
OMX said in August that it planned to outsource management of its networks and data centres and that it had started negotiations with Verizon.
Under the seven year contract, which kicks in on 1 October, Verizon Business will take responsibility for aspects of OMX's external networks and data centres.
OMX says it will continue to be the prime contractor and offer a wide range of IT services to exchanges, clearing organisations and CSDs worldwide.
"Finding a dedicated outsourcing supplier for external network operations and data centre management is an important element in our global growth plans," says Markus Gerdien, president, market technology, OMX.
The Swedish company says the move to outsource will also enable it to streamline operations.
