ANZ has become the latest Australian bank to experience Internet breakdown problems after a software malfunction knocked out its online banking service for 11 hours.
The technical failure left ANZ personal and business Internet banking users unable to pay bills and transfer money between accounts. The lock-out was traced back to a faulty computer auditing program.
The outage follows similar embarrassments at other leading Australian banks. The Westpac home page went offline for two days last week after a software upgrade threw the bank's systems for six.
In early August, National Australia Bank, Bank of Queensland and Commonwealth Bank also suffered Internet breakdowns following routine software upgrades.
