Nasdaq to launch investor analytics service

US market operator Nasdaq is launching an investor analytics service for issuers, called Pinpoint Market Intelligence, later this year.

Nasdaq will offer the service - slated for a fourth quarter launch - through its Shareholder.com subsidiary.

The service will analyse institutional purchases and sales of stock for issuers. This information can be used to measure the effectiveness of investor relations programmes.

Marcia Barris, SVP, products and strategy, Nasdaq's corporate client group, says: investor relations officers are the critical bridge between investors and company management and need to be able to understand the factors driving institutional buying and selling.

"They need intelligence interpreted in a timely manner around the activities of institutional investors and a resource to understand current trading patterns and developments in their stock," adds Barris.

The service will be available to all US public companies and delivered to Nasdaq-listed firms through the exchange's market intelligence desk.
