Electronic interdealer broker Bloomberg Tradebook has launched an online foreign exchange marketplace.
The Bloomberg Tradebook FX system enables institutional traders to transact in foreign currency exchange while preserving their anonymity from other market participants. Traders will also be able to use sophisticated algorithms to implement trading strategies.
The platform currently offers a marketplace in 16 currency pairs. Bloomberg says advanced analytics, additional trading algorithms and FX forwards will be launched during the second quarter of the year.
AIG International (AIGI) will provide liquidity through the platform and credit through existing contractual and banking relationships, says Bloomberg.
Commenting on the new FX offering, Kim Bang, president, Bloomberg Tradebook, says: "Active traders can trade with AIGI or its affiliates and remain anonymous in the FX marketplace.
"In addition, users can choose to sweep the market available on Bloomberg Tradebook FX, or use different trading strategies such as reserve to seek reduced information leakage and market impact on their orders."
The Tradebook FX service is intergrated with the Bloomberg Professional desktop.
