Western Union signs Bank of Africa to EFT services

Bank of Africa Group has signed a contract with Western Union Financial Services to provide money transfer services to its customers across eight African countries.

Bank of Africa Group currently has a presence in Madagascar, Benin, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Senegal and the Ivory Coast.

The new money transfer service will enable customers to pay bills and transfer money around the globe using Western Union's proprietary money transfer network. The banking group will initally target customers who use wire services to send regular payments back home.

Khalid Fellahi, regional vice president of Western Union for Africa, says the deal with Bank of Africa Group enables Western Union, together with its affiliates Orlandi Valuta and Vigo, to extend services to a new group of people who are looking for fast, reliable and convenient ways to send money around the world.
