Dutch banking group ING has agreed a five year deal worth EUR800 million to outsource workplace services - including installation, maintenance and support of desktops and laptops - at its Dutch and Belgian operations.
ING has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a group of suppliers consisting of Accenture, Atos Origin, Getronics and KPN for the provision of workplace services at its banking and insurance operations in the Netherlands and Belgium which together house 53,000 employees.
The vendors will provide the bank with a range of services including the installation, maintenance and support of desktops, laptops, printers and telephones.
Under the deal around 490 staff in the Netherlands and 80 staff in Belgium will transfer to the service providers.
The agreement, which will be finalised at the end of 2006, is part of ING's IT efficiency programme, which was announced last November.
Under the programme the bank expects to transfer approximately 2200 employees to outsourcing partners for total annual cost savings of approximately EUR230 million.
