First Data's OmniPay wins HSBC global merchant services deal

First Data's Dublin-based subsidiary OmniPay has inked a three year deal to provide global merchant acquiring services to HSBC.

US-based First Data says the OmniPay platform, which features multi-currency, multiple languages, local interchange support and regulation for each country, will provide HSBC's global merchant customers with a "one-stop-shop" for global payment processing and all associated back office requirements.

The system will enable HSBC to acquire merchants worldwide on a single processing platform, consolidating all treasury, reporting and support requirements.

The vendor says the agreement will also eliminate the need for merchants to negotiate market-by-market contracts.

Mark Robinson, MD group cards, HSBC, says: "We chose First Data and OmniPay because we recognise they are the only provider that can help us launch a truly global acquiring proposition.

"The OmniPay platform provides tremendous flexibility to implement new countries, currencies and languages without development."

Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
