Dutch bank ABN Amro is to supply its Web banking customers with remote authentication technology from Swedish security firm Todos Data Systems.
ABN Amro and Todos have signed a letter of intent to develop a portable smart card reader which the bank will distribute to online banking customers.
Todos says ABN Amro evaluated different systems for remote authentication for Internet banking before selecting its technology.
Per Skygebjerg, CMO and executive VP, Todos, says the new smart card reader will eventually be distributed to ABN Amro's two million Web banking customers in The Netherlands.
