The vendor has received official certification from banking trust network identrus to employ the authentication technology as an integtral feature on the IBM eServer zSeries operating system (z/OS V1R5 and higher).

The initiative will enable financial institutions using the IBM OS to serve as their own Certificate Authority (CA), issuing and managing digital IDs in line with inhouse security policies.

Jim Porell of IBM's eServer zSeries unit says: "Acknowledging our customers' needs, IBM has created a Certificate Authority model based on the Identrus platform. Our model is designed to extend the value of the mainframe within the financial services community to facilitate security-rich e-business transactions."
