Commonwealth Bank of Australia has put back the launch date for an upgraded version of its NetBank Internet banking system until June, after being deluged with complaints by pilot users.
Initially scheduled to run in pilot mode last November, the Australian bank only began switching customers over to the new interface late last month.
The bank's helpdesk has since been overwhelmed with complaints by Mac users who claim the new system fails to recognise popular alternatives to Explorer 6.0 and Netscape 7.0. Other complaints centre on failures to recognise previously agreed access rights, mysterious error messages and system freezes, and inadequate customer support.
Users are also angry that the bank forced the switch on customers without prior warning - leading some to suspect a security problem - and provides no way back to the old interface. About 14,000 customers who signed up for a trial of the new service some months ago have been automatically migrated to the beta site.
