The Boston Stock Exchange (BSE) is deploying the Market Access ticker processing system from Market Systems Technology (MST) on an Intel-based Linux server platform from Stratus Technologies.
The Market Access system processes exchange data directly from sources such as Opra and Nyse as well as other exchanges and ECNs.
BSE currently operates its existing Market Access ticker plant on hardware from Stratus, but plans to upgrade to the Linux server platform in the spring.
Yann Huillier, VP, trading systems at the BSE, says: "Market Access on the Stratus ft Linux platform gives us low latency and high availability, and allows us to take advantage of the cost-effective performance of Linux."
MST says the combined MST/Stratus system is a cost-effective replacement for existing ticker platforms that may be difficult to maintain and upgrade and strained by increasing data volumes.
