Funded by The Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (DCITA), the research will examine the current e-payments infrastructure, including gaps in the existing market and any factors preventing the development of new systems.

The DCITA is seeking consultants to conduct the research, which will focus on b2b e-commerce, peer-to peer and device to device transactions as well as mobile commerce and micropayments.

As well as examining new markets for electronic transactions, the study will be used to assess the role of government and the use of regulations in the development and future adoption of secure electronic payments in the country.
