Pay By Touch to acquire online payments firm ATM Direct

San Franciso-based Pay By Touch has signed an agreement to acquire ATM Direct, a provider of online payment authentication technology. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

ATM Direct's patent-pending software enables consumers to use their debit card PIN numbers to authenticate payments for purchases made on the Internet. The company says the technology enables payments in real time.

Pay By Touch provides biometric payment authentication services. The vendor also delivers payment processing services through its iPAY business.

John Rogers, president and CEO, Pay By Touch, says: "This new addition to the Pay By Touch family gives us the ability to provide a one-stop-shop for an end-to-end payment processing solution."
