French bank Credit Agricole is using PKI technology from US-based ActivCard to provide secure authentication services to both customers and staff.

The bank is using the ActivCard technology to support its CA Certification programme which enables its online banking customers to digitally sign documents.

ActivCard says its Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and smart card system is being used to provide employees with secure access to Web applications, intranets and workstations.

Marc Hudavert, vice president and general manager, ActivCard Europe, says: "By using a PKI based security infrastructure for internal and external applications, Credit Agricole has developed a future-proof security architecture to offer secure online banking services and network access.
