The UK bank, with $91 billion in assets and 250,000 business and corporate customers, says the ASP-based version of S1 Corporate Banking International will replace multiple existing applications.

Alliance & Leicester will be the second major European bank in 2004 to implement applications in S1's data centre, which promises resilient, uninterrupted service delivery for e-banking.

Commenting on the decision, Stewart Fraser, director of business development for Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank, says: "It is imperative that our e-banking service offers our corporate customers the highest levels of security, functionally and reliability."

Jamie Ellertson, CEO at S1, says the agreement is a significant step in the company's expansion in Europe.
