Woori Bank is using the Ascential DataStage MVS version to populate an enterprise data warehouse with data from the bank's multiple channel systems, such as automated teller machines, branch banking, mobile banking, the Internet and call centres, to give the company a single, accurate view of each customer. The data is fed to business users at the bank's headquarters and branch offices and used in support of cross-selling campaigns and analytical and risk management models.

Hong Moon Sun, general manager/EDW at Woori Bank, says: "Line-of-business executives now have complete and consistent data from a range of non-integrated sources across the bank. This helps improve decision making and strengthen risk management."

Hugo Choi, Korea country manager at Ascential Software, says the bank was looking for a scalable data integration infrastructure.

He explains: "Woori Bank plans to move from 25 million to an expected 70 million daily transactions in 2005 and grow data volumes by an estimated 40 percent as it integrates systems from acquired and merged banks."
