Over three quarters of UK consumers will use online banking services within the next five years, according to research commissioned by Internet service provider Pipex.
A survey of 1900 consumers conducted by YouGov found that 77% will use the Web for conducting banking transactions, while 72% of respondents say they will use online bill payment services, in the next five years.
According to the research, more than half (53%) of Britain's homes now have access to the Internet, with a third of these having a broadband connection. Pipex says the increasing use of broadband in homes will drive a revived explosion in Internet usage, which in turn will change the way we live our daily lives - including the way in which we use banking facilities.
