The new Gold card offers members a 'Smart Miles' loyalty programme, promising redeemable 'air miles' against tickets on Sahara or Indian Airlines, or with a part payment on air tickets with any domestic or international airline, hotel accommodation and holiday packages.

The cards are manufactured by DZ Thailand using a Multos-based smart card module from Australia's Keycorp. The Dutch bank is using an NBS Advantage perso system for generating personalisation data in-house.

Two years ago, ABN Amro launched India's first chip-enabled smart card and created the country's first online rewards programme.
