Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of UK bank Barclays, has appointed Amy Nauiokas to the newly-created position of director and head of e-commerce.

Nauiokas joins the firm from Cantor Fitzgerald and its electronic trading technology business, eSpeed. She was senior managing director and head of global marketing for both entities.

Prior to to this, Nauiokas was associate director of global advertising and director of fixed income product marketing at Bear Stearns.

Barclays Capital says the appointment is part of its strategy to grow business opportunities through direct channels. Nauiokas will be responsible for all business development, sales and marketing of the firm's e-commerce business, focusing on external initiatives with clients and technology providers, as well as internal projects with sales and trading teams. Regional e-commerce heads will report directly to Nauiokas.

She in turn will report to Justin Bull, chairman of the client technology committee, who is based in Hong Kong.
