Visa is to begin distributing technology from London-based Serverside Graphics that will allow its member banks to offer card personalisation services to cardholders.
The Serverside system enables cardholders to use their own photographs or artwork to customise their payment cards.
John Elkins, EVP, global brand and marketing, Visa International, says: "This new program will be accessible online to Visa cardholders in a convenient yet secure fashion through their participating bank's Web site."
Customers requesting customised cards will be directed to a Web site featuring Serverside's image editor system, which enables users to upload a selected image and place it on a Visa card template. The image is checked for acceptability, printed on a card and then sent to the cardholder. The system does not require any personal account data.
