Adkinson will migrate from its existing in-house front office system to the HiTrade product running on Unix. The firm is expected to be live with the DSTi system by June.

Somchai Patcharapisutsin, Adkinson's EVP of IT, says: "We chose HiTrade because we believe the flexibility of a Windows-based system will result in higher operational efficiency."

DSTi claims its HiTrade front-end is currently used by 55% of the brokers in Thailand and manages 65% of the market transactions.

Separately, PT First State Investments Indonesia (FSII), a recently-launched subsidiary of Australia's First State Investments, has gone live with DSTi's back office asset management and accounting software, HiPortfolio, at its Jakarta office.

PT FSII was awarded its investment manager licence in December 2003 and was officially launched in February 2004.

Legowo Kusumonegoro, FSSI's president director, says: "Our shareholders fully supported our proposal to implement HiPortfolio in Jakarta, as most of our offices, specifically in Australia and UK, are also using HiPortfolio."
