Trading was halted for certain individual equities from 10am Central European Time (CET) and for the entire market from 11am CET until 11.45am CET.

In a statement, Deutsche Börse says: "The reason for the trading suspension was a problem in the host database, that led to longer than usual processing sequences."

After the problem was solved, pre-trading resumed at 11.45am CET and trading at 12.30pm CET.

Deutsche Börse says that electronic trading systems for the derivatives market Eurex, the Xontro system for floor trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and the Eurex Clearing central counterparty were not affected.
