Fiserv dangles account aggregation carrot to banks

Under the agreement, Fiserv will use VerticalOne's account aggregation technology to offer consumers a single point-of-access to a wide variety of personal content and account information including reward programmes, communications, investments, bank statements, and other bills or personal accounts. The service will be integrated into a financial institution's branded Web site.

In addition to providing a gateway to banking and other financial transactions, the portal may be configured to become a personalised site for news and other information, stock prices and a view of every account - credit card, insurance, frequent flier, - that can be accessed through the Internet. All will be available to the end user through a single log-on.

Fiserv says it will expand the offering with ISP services - enabling financial institutions to offer their customers Internet connections that launch directly to their branded portal site.
