The UK life and pensions software house says the alliance will deliver "the first full open architecture wrap account service for financial intermediaries in the UK".

Marlborough Stirling says the new facility will enable Exweb's 18,500 registered users to manage, transact and value traditional life and pension policies together with a full range of unit trusts, OEICs and equities in various tax wrappers.

As part of the agreement, Marlborough Stirling will receive a five per cent equity stake in the parent company of the Fundsdirect group, Investment Funds Direct Holdings Limited.

The full service is expected to launch in late 2004.
