BNP Paribas is to outsource the installation, management and maintenance of its installed base of Eftpos terminals to Axalto, formerly Schlumberger Smart Cards & Terminals.
Under the contract, Axalto is named as point-of-sale terminal supplier and is also responsible for providing outsourced POS services, such as terminal installation, maintenance and help desk services.
Axalto currently manages POS services for a growing base of 35,000 terminals in France.
The decision to outsource is a radical departure from BNP Paribas' previous business model.
