Michigan-based Comerica Bank is introducing a Visa Gift Card, a personalised pre-paid card that can be used for spending anywhere in the US that Visa debit cards are accepted.

The cards, which are available in denominations from $25 to $1000 and may be embossed with the recipient's name, can be ordered from the Comerica Web site for a $5.95 fee.

Michael Tierney, senior vice president, personal financial services for Comerica Bank, talks up the advantages of the card for online spending.

"The Comerica Visa Gift Card enables us to provide customers the convenience of shopping online along with security of knowing that if their gift card is lost or stolen, the unspent amount can be replaced," he says.
