In the coming weeks, consumers will be able to purchase the Samsung Wave 578 with Quick Tap from Orange's shops, online and via telesales.

The new Samsung Wave 578 with Quick Tap contactless payments will be available in a stylish Black with a sleek, user-friendly design and bright 3.2" WQVGA TFT screen. It runs on Bada, Samsung's own operating system, and offers Wi-Fi, HSDPA, A-GPS, MicroSD and Bluetooth. The 3G+ handset also features integrated social networking, including Facebook and Twitter, plus a 3.2 mega pixel camera and video recording.

Consumers will be able to use their Wave 578 with Quick Tap to make secure and convenient payments using the handsets NFC capability at over 50,000 stores nationwide, including Prêt a Manger, EAT, Little Chef, Wembley Arena, Subway, Wilkinson and McDonalds - making purchases of £15 and under. To support the launch, Barclaycard is providing Orange customers with £10 cash added to their account upon activation, and 10% cash back on all Quick Tap purchases made in the 90 days.

Barclaycard, Barclays debit or Orange Credit Card users can then load funds of up to £100 simply and securely onto the handset's Quick Tap app. The user friendly payment app, which sits on the home screen of the handset, contains information such as electronic statements detailing Quick Tap purchases so customers can keep an eye on their spending and manage finances easily on the go.

Simeon Bird, Director of Propositions, Orange said: "We're pleased to be offering the Samsung Wave 578, which is the next in a range of Quick Tap enabled mobiles we have planned for the UK.

Only on Orange will customers benefit from the greater convenience and control over their high street purchases which Quick Tap provides them with."

David Chan, CEO of Barclaycard Consumer Europe, said: "Paying with a mobile phone means never being without the right change, and always having access to funds. Thhat's why I believe contactless mobile is the future of payments, and I'm keen it's made available to as many of our customers as possible. At the launch of our first contactless handset earlier this year we promised we would roll out greater choice in the 'Quick Tap' range and I'm pleased to be able to announce the first of these new handsets today."

The Samsung Wave with Quick Tap will be available from Orange in the coming weeks on pay as you go and free on select price plans.
