Sal. Oppenheim's move into the emerging rainbow options market called for the implementation of a new computational Grid infrastructure capable of performing complex price valuations in real-time.
Working with IBM and Platform Computing, the European private bank created a Grid architecture based on IBM System x and IBM BladeCenter servers running Suse Linux Enterprise Server 9.
The result is an open, high-performance operating system that runs on low-cost hardware, while delivering a tenfold increase in computational speed.
