Accenture reports back on a ten-week trial of digital pen and paper technology at UK bank HBOS.
The technology combines the portability and social acceptance of traditional pen and paper with a computer’s ability to store, share, and act upon the information collected.
As part of its review of IT trends and new opportunities, HBOS decided to test the emerging technology in a ten-week field trial.
The idea is to reduce errors in transcribing paper documents and notes, and enable staff to engage with customers in a more relaxed, 'naturalistic' fashion.
The results of the field trial, the first of its kind in the financial sector, provide insight into how this technology could enhance business performance.
