Building a new retail bank

Building a new retail bank

Source:

When ABN Amro acquired Magyar Hitel Bank (MHB), an established Hungarian bank with a medium size retail operation, it deployed Financial Objects' ActiveBank™ Retail product to provide a fully-integrated, multi-channel delivery mechanism and 24-hour back office support.

Now installed in over 100 of the bank’s branches and outlets ActiveBank™ Retail provides teller support including transaction input, customer and account capture, cash drawer management, payment/mandate capture, loan and deposit capture, management and store and forward capabilities. Allied to this the system provides the 24 hour back office operation, covering customer and account management and interfaces for the card system and for the local clearing (GIRO) systems.
As ActiveBank™ Retail is a fully integrated solution, complete management of customers and accounts and automated processing from transaction entry through back office, general ledger and payments in real time are enabled. Furthermore, the centralised solution provides senior management with a level of control over the branches previously unattainable. The old system’s environment was multiple and disparate with no integration between the branches or head office. ActiveBank™ Retail expedites the introduction of new products and is in 24 hours x 7 days a week operation to support various delivery channels all year round.
At MHB, ActiveBank™ Retail on distributed NT servers provides a client server, component technology platform complying fully to Microsoft’s development standards.
