The Future Foundation has conducted research on behalf of mobile technology vendor Monitise. The report claims that 62% of those surveyed in the UK now interact with their bank online. The precentage that now use their mobile phones for banking has risen to 5.6% of those surveyed, up from 4.3% last year.
The Future Foundation's Barry Clark sat down with Finextra to talk through the methodology of the survey. He also claims that the 'tipping point' for 3G mobile services, and customer comfort levels for mobile banking, really happened last year.
While Monitise may be happy with signs of growth in the mobile banking market, at 5.6% of those surveyed, mobile banking may still have a way to go before it is considered a mainstream way of interacting with your bank in the UK.
