Richard Martin, business security consultant at Financial Fraud Action UK, spoke with Finextra about how banks and consumers can protect themselves in light of a 55% spike in online banking fraud in the UK.
He says consumer education and information are important, but he also cites improvements in OS security from the likes of Microsoft. However, hackers can gain access to computers through more than just the web and email. Adobe Flash and Acrobat can be used to gain access to PCs, so it is important to update applications regularly, says Martin.
