Besides the 'me too' element here from Samsung - Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) is a cool feature. I wonder which retailer/loyalty scheme will jump onto this and create a truly seamless payment experience where we start to see NFC and MST tech start to properly change how we pay & shop besides the 'cool' factor we have with tap and go. Surely the bar code and mag stripe loyalty cards should go? When do we see Samsung Pay in the UK?

We've known this for a long time, and we know the US EMV roll out will pick up momentum at some point - it has to. What would be interesting for me is to understand what percentage of merchants are ready to accept EMV either as chip + signature or as chip + PIN.. and I'm not just talking EMV acceptance infrastructure! From obscure things like cashier training to more interesting bits and bytes issues like POS integration, EMV keys and terminal configuration management ...

Its no shame to use your ApplePay phone in the tube. I suggest using the wider family gates/slow lanes until someone figures out how to make the tube experience with ApplePay faster... at least there you wont risk being bundled over.

For those of us who are un-initiated in Samsung Pay, here's a dummies guide. ..> http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/132981-samsung-debuts-samsung-pay-what-is-it-and-how-does-it-work
Disappointed that I have to upgrade to a S6 to try this out. .. my S5 has hardly done any mileage.

I am keen to see Apple Pay in a high value transaction scenario, the biometrics auth should make it quicker than PIN code auth. Also research has it that iPhone users generally spend more ..so for me this will be one area merchants will be watching keenly re: spinning the Apple Pay launch.
I agree with William, the key to unlock the real value here is access to data and loyalty.

When will I be able to use my debit card on the tube as well? I keep forgetting to keep the contactless cards in my wallet seperate (choc des cartes)!
I agree with Dirk though, that is a LOT of money in TfLs books .. maybe UK.GOV should make TfL re-deploy that money by further improving transport provision and offset the fact that I/public may have to walk and not take a bus if card is lost/broken.. of if I happen to be 'unbanked' for some reason.
